ATLS Course Faculty should notify learners upon course registration to download the MyATLS app and take advantage of this supplemental material. The promotion codes are for ATLS learners only and should not be shared outside of your course site(s). Once a learner redeems a code, Pro access remains active for 2 months. After the promotional period, learners may continue their subscription or cancel at any time. The codes will change periodically, and the most current code will always be listed in the Learning Management System. New Surgical Skills Instructor Course Strengthens, Standardizes Training |
In Case You Missed It: The Surgical Skills Instructor Readiness Course—a comprehensive online program built to strengthen, standardize, and elevate ACS surgical skills education—is now available. The free course introduces contemporary approaches to surgical skills instruction, emphasizing adult learning principles, psychomotor skill development, interactive teaching methods, constructive feedback, and the effective use of simulation. Educators will be prepared to deliver high-quality, learner-centered surgical skills training aligned with current standards in medical education.
Individuals who are recognized as Instructor Potential (IP) for any of the surgical skills courses (i.e., Advanced Trauma Operative Management, Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma, Basic Endovascular Skills for Trauma) should proceed with the process to become official Instructors. For information on becoming a Surgical Skills Course Instructor, refer to the Standard Operating Procedure located in the “Resources” tab of each Surgical Skills Course. Trauma Education Standardizes Course Certificates |
ACS Trauma Education course certificates are being updated and standardized. The Course Management System (CMS) streamlines certification by generating personalized course certificates for every learner and distributing them electronically. Any certificate produced outside of the CMS must replicate the official ACS certificate format, adhere to ACS branding guidelines, and receive approval from the Trauma Education office. While the CMS remains the preferred method for certificate generation, the Trauma Education office will provide official certificates when requested and approved. New ATLS Program Launches in Kurdistan Region of Iraq |
Congratulations to the ACS Kurdistan Iraq Chapter for successfully hosting its first ATLS course in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The course, February 9–11, was held in conjunction with the 4th Medical Kurdistan Conference in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Local instructors, along with a team of instructors and a course director from the US, led the class, which had 16 participants. Sadiq Aziz Sadiq, MBCHB, FACS, President of the ACS Kurdistan Region Iraq Chapter, played an instrumental role in launching the new ATLS program, with support from the Region 17 Chief Hakim Elkholy, MBBCh, FACS, and many others who were involved in the promulgation efforts over the past year. Annual Pricing Adjustment Supports Continued Excellence in Trauma Education |
All ACS Trauma Education products are subject to a standardized annual price adjustment of 4%, effective each July. This structured approach, which began in 2025, establishes a consistent and predictable pricing model that supports the ongoing development, enhancement, and delivery of high-quality trauma education resources. Sales Tax Collection Will Expand to Additional States |
Reminder: As of October 2025, the ACS began collecting sales tax for the following states: Florida, Georgia, Missouri, South Carolina, and Washington. Louisiana is next, and other states likely will follow. If your organization is tax exempt, submit your tax exemption documentation to traumaeducation@facs.org so the applicable tax can be removed. |

Watch for Avalara Emails Regarding Tax-Exempt Status |
Organizations that have previously submitted tax exemption documentation to the Trauma Education office may receive an email from Avalara—the system used by the ACS to administer and monitor tax exemptions. It is important that you complete the steps requested by Avalara. If your organization’s tax exemption is within 45 days of expiration, Avalara will notify you and request an updated document. If you prefer to send the information directly to the ACS, email salestax@facs.org. |

Take Action: Annual Speaker Disclosure Is Required for CME Approval |
To support your continued success, we are providing guidance on the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) disclosure requirements and Provider Course Recognition (PCR) approvals. Submission of the on-site disclosure list alone does not meet ACCME regulations. For educational activities offering CME, ACCME requires that any individual (e.g., instructors) who has control of the educational content must disclose all financial relationships with any commercial interest. A signed electronic or hard copy of the Annual Speaker Disclosure form must be submitted with each course; this must accompany the on-site disclosure list. PCRs without completed and signed disclosure forms cannot be approved. Additional information on this ACCME requirement is available. Thank you for helping the ACS maintain its ACCME Accreditation with Commendation so the College can continue to offer CME credits. |
